The Beliefs

Standard Beliefs
Although there are several branches of Wicca, most practioners adhere to several similar beliefs:

1. Everyone has a divine god and/or goddess within themselves.

2. It is encouraged that everyone develope their own natural gifts for divination (similar to the I-Ching of Taoism.)

3. Nature and Earth are sacred manifestations of the Goddess.

4. The Goddess, whether a symbol or a entity, is the main focus of worship.

5. Everyone has their own path to follow.

6. Rituals and celebrations should be linked to the seasons and the phases of the moon.

7. Rituals and celebrations should include: meditation, visualization, invocation, chanting, and candles.

The main goddess, Gaia, is seen as being given to the Earth. There is much stress put on the notion of peace in Wicca. It is important for Wiccans to reverve nature and support peace. The belief is that if a society is not in harmony in nature, peace cannot be achieved.

Books and Writings

Wiccans do not believe in a bible, although they have several writings and doctrines that many adhere to. Sometimes, these are referred to as scriptures.

1. The Wiccan Rede: this is a largely drawn up version of the basic law that all Wiccans adhere to, basically it states: Do as ye will, an ye harm none.

2. The Three Fold Law: Easily put, the Three-Fold Law is this: What you give out returns to you, multiplied.

3. The invocation of the Goddess: When this is spoken, the Goddess is able to see you and hear you. It is a means to get her attention.
